I know about a year ago it was disclosed that NetFlix purposely slowed delivery of high volume customers to make it cheaper for NetFlix. They used this by shipping the dvds from a warehouse further away then required and by taking an extra day to fill requests.
This was in contrast to speedy service they provide when they try to hook a customer.
I'm not sure if that issue was ever resolved and if it is related to your NetFlix issue. -
